As more and more journalists decide it’s safe to start voicing serious questions about the validity of climate change claims, we’ll see more and more scientists withdrawing their associations with ‘the climate change consensus’. Scientists are a much more timid group than journalists, so this will take a while, but isn’t going anywhere.
Until now, anyone who questioned the credibility of the IPCC was labelled as a climate skeptic, or worse. But many climate scientists now sense a sinking ship, and they’re bailing out.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

Oh Al Gore, will you ever catch a break? Oh wait, he’s made at least $100 million since leaving office (good for him, I liked his movie).

Geological evidence from the early and middle part of this period offers troubling news: the average temperature in the tropics at this time could have been as high as 40°C while the poles were at temperatures of 15 or 20°C. None of our climate models accounts for how this “Eocene hothouse” might have arisen

Well it looks as though the Polar Bears might not all die, and Ted turner can let his crack anti-cannibal security team relax for a while. The world will not boil, not this year at least.

According to NOAA Southern hemisphere sea ice (yes I know, no Polar bears there) is at its highest recorded level since the beginning of recordings in 1979. And fun new models are starting to come out to explain why temperature isn’t rising like the alarmists and fund raisers would have you believe.

So hopefully the pause in the destruction of the Earth is permanent right? Not according to a study published in Nature last week. According to that we’re all still headed to mass extinctions, but the Earth is just taking a break.

Ted Turner is a fun guy. I hadn’t thought much about cannibalism in recent years, and then I saw ‘Animal Cannibals’ and the original ‘Dawn of the Dead’ and re-experienced the shock and horror of species on species snacking. According to Mr. Turner, if we don’t do something about this durned environment problem, we’ll end up eating each other.

If steps aren’t taken to stem global warming, “We’ll be eight degrees hotter in 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow,” Turner said during a wide-ranging, hour-long interview with PBS’s Charlie Rose that aired Tuesday.

“Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals,” said Turner, 69. “Civilization will have broken down. The few people left will be living in a failed state — like Somalia or Sudan — and living conditions will be intolerable.”

Ted goes on to say that we have global warming because there are too many people. And all of these excess people use too much stuff. Durned people and their stinking stuff. If half the world ate the other half, would that help things? Ted suggests just having less babies to avoid cannibalism, which is admittedly less extreme.

On a serious note, I would suggest that Ted Turner probably uses a lot more ‘stuff’ then most of those extra people he’s complaining about.

Ted Turner: Global warming could lead to cannibalism
