The Internet is a scary place man.

A couple of years back you may remember that a University professor “theorized” that Mr. Rogers was responsible of a destroying an entire generation of kids by turning them into a bunch of enormous wimps with a jealous sense of entitlement and the unjustified belief that they were uniquely special.

Well, two years is a long time ago and a lot of shit passes through the media filter in 24 months. Not to mention that was before the paranoid state of hypermedia really began to establish itself around these parts. In this new climate of political hostility, mere accusations of spreading ungodly unmanliness are no longer good enough, and the resulting Mr. Rogers conspiracy 2.0 is a definite upgrade. It turns out that Mr. Rogers is guilty of using Illuminati symbolism and new age myth to create a mind controlled army of brats and pussies which will be unleashed to destroy America (and it’s family values ) by Barak Obama. Of course.

Anyways, here’s the clip. The whole thing is decent, but the definite highlight starts at about 7:34 and runs right through the end (about 3 minutes). Who would have guessed Captain Sweater-Shoes-Make-Believe was such a delusional pervert? Creepy and hilarious. Good thing I didn’t watch him much as a kid, I was much bigger fan of Mr. Dressup.

Remember the days when the Bermuda Triangle struck terror into the hearts of men and demanded the rapt attention of our finest intellects?

I do, but these days it seems we all more or less agree that the only people mysteriously disappearing in the warm waters of Caribbean are desperate Cubans headed for Miami. Such a shame.

Although it was never solved, it appears our collective fascination with the mystery Bermuda Triangle has waned. Perhaps this is because like Bermuda shorts, pet rocks, and nerf balls the Triangle is just way too 70s for comfort. It’s embarrassing, like “God, what we’re we thinking?” Or maybe we’re preoccupied with other worries. Maybe in contrast to endless war and climate change, the idea of being sucked into some kind of inter-dimensional vortex never to be heard from again just isn’t as terrifying as it used to be.

Or maybe it’s all just a testament to the success of affordable and reliable GPS service, who knows? It is a mystery after all.

Given the recent developments regarding the recent undersea internet cable cuts, as brought to the attention of BBD reader by Brother Greg (see previous post), I thought some further documents and websites might provide some greater context, and more ammunition for the “conspiracy” minded among us.

Here are couple of initial reports (BBC) and commentaries (Information Clearinghouse) from last year regarding the Pentagon’s recently declassified “Internet Operations Roadmap”, a document created in 2003 under the watchful eye of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Extra details can be found at this very interesting wiki site regarding media and democracy called “Source Watch“. Finally, have a look at the original pentagon document, as well as a host of others stored at “IWS – The Information Warfare Site.”

So, it begs the question, is it really a “conspiracy” if the plans of the conspirators intentions have been publicly available for some time; much like the “conspiracy” which saw “the tragic events of 9/11″ used as an excuse to launch a war on a Iraq that had been in the planning for 10 years prior?

More undersea internet cable cuts!

The total number of internet cables feeding India and the Middle East cut is now up to 5. I guess we’d hear more about it, but we can’t, you know cuz their internet is broken.
I was originally thinking this was someones way of reducing the economic appeal of outsourcing to India, but the focus of the cuts is more Middle-Easterly. So who has the resources in the area to make all these cuts? Russia, maybe but I thought all their boats were rusty or waiting to have reactor accidents. Israel, surely they do. U.S.A. also.
So why? Perhaps an effort to isolate communication into and out of Iran?

It caught my attention because one of my fave conspiracy dudes got himself a mention. Take a moment to congratulate former English footballer turned Reptilian Agenda whistle blower David Icke, who made #7 on the countdown.

Seriously though, what explains this ridiculous inclination in the modern world which drives people to compose “10 most/best/worst” lists ad infinitum? What kind of fucking authority do these people think they have to do this? It’s goddamned arrogant if you ask me. Maybe these people are incapable of evaluating things that aren’t in grocery list format or something. Who gives a shit?
