My theory on the "Why Schools?" question is that it's a combination of
-The importance of the school environment. Schools create a situation where all your social, investment (future value), and 'work' eggs are in one basket. Massively increasing the stress and importance of the place relative to any other.

-Poor judgment skills of those involved. (15-23 year olds aren't that good at making choices).

-Video Games, celebrity culture, lack of proper moral guidance, drugs, breakdown of the family, broken borders, losing jobs overseas...

nicely stated Runs, it would appear that many in the US haven't made that connection btw gun violence and the availability of firearms. also there's no need to assume, as they interviewee does, that the ONLY of dealing with a crazed gunman is to pull a gun on them. There are many ways these fuckos can be dealt with.

But yeah, it would be interesting to locate these incidents culturally. Why schools? Why the rampage/suicide/etc? It's more than violent entertainment and easy access to weapons that's for sure. I have my own hypothesis about this, but that's for another time and more thinking/research
