Loser WIll Be Winner in Democratic Primary

This is the first U.S. election where I have had more than a passing interest in the primaries. With in both parties, some very intriguing stores are developing. I won’t get into the Republican side of things right now, and the tale emerging from the right side of things should be explored shortly. Its the Democratic party I’ve been thinking about today. Discounting the Michigan primary, Clinton and Obama have split the primaries so far. Obama’s win in Iowa was a shocker to many, and then Hilary’s following win was viewed as a comeback. Why are so many people surprised that democrats vote for the perceived underdog? Both Clinton and Obama are looking to be a ‘first’ for the Presidency, and so both can lay claim to being an underdog. But who is the underunderdog? When Hillary was campaigning on experience and establishment in politics, she effectively passed the underdog mantle to Obama. With his victory, and the media’s shift towards him, she got it back. And won. WIll this be a game of hot potato right to the end? I doubt it, but if either candidate is going to emerge as the front runner, they better put a LOT of distance behind them.
