The Georgia Guidestones (and another cool blog too!)

Ok, I really need to get back to “real life” work, but one of my colleagues here at BBD mentioned some ill defined moral unease about bringing up the suggestion the world might be better off, environmentally speaking of course, by lettings babies die. Yeesh, even writing that gives me the fucking creeps – but I get where he’s coming from; it’s a very plausible theory called carrying capacity.

Naturally, I’m not one to get into a sober minded argument about theories of overpopulation, at least not right now, but what immediately came to mind when I read this was an American monument well known in conspiracy oriented infotainment networks, the Georgia Guidestones.

The guidestones were erected at personal cost by an anonymous individual using a pseudonym in Elbert Country Georgia (USA). It is claimed they were to represent the “American Stonehenge” but inscribed in granite were 10, not so cryptic, “New Commandments” – in eight modern languages. Being as follows;

  • Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
  • Guide reproduction wisely – improving fitness and diversity.
  • Unite humanity with a living new language.
  • Rule passion – faith – tradition – and all things with tempered reason.
  • Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
  • Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
  • Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
  • Balance personal rights with social duties.
  • Prize truth – beauty – love – seeking harmony with the infinite.
  • Be not a cancer on the earth – Leave room for nature – Leave room for nature.

They sound pretty rational in alot of ways, don’t they? Well, unless that is, of course, you think they’re the gameplan for the coming New World Order.

Oh, and here’s a really cool blog that I stole the picture from; http://www.nothingtoseehere.net/
