A senior intelligence official, Donald Kerr, the US Principal Deputy Director of Intelligence wants to redefine what privacy is. Now, this is not really a huge shocker considering the ongoing wiretapping controversy, but this is definitely going a bit further. The idea that we should accept the government spying on us and trust them to do anything with the information is simply ridiculous. I doubt there are many starry-eyed idealists out there that still believe even a small majority of elected officials are in this to truly serve the people, let alone that everyone in government who would handle this information will do so with only the most noble intentions. Horseshit. This is really scary. Even worse, a quick search of two major papers showed no comment on this. That’s even scarier.
