FBI Uses Falefal Sales to Find Terrorists

Two senior FBI counter terrorism officials created a plan to track Falafel sales at grocery stores in order to identify the presence of Iranian terrorists in California. Its a good thing I don’t live in California, what with my recent three month falafel binge. I wonder if they are able to find high concentrations of communists by dips in % of red meat sales?

CQ Politics | FBI Hoped to Follow Falafel Trail to Iranian Terrorists Here

“The idea was that a spike in, say, falafel sales, combined with other data, would lead to Iranian secret agents in the south San Francisco-San Jose area.”

Looking past the amusing idiocy here, reading the entire article exposes an interesting point of view. It constantly switches between discussing ‘terrorists’ and ‘spies’ or ‘agents’. Apparently, if you’re Iranian, its the same thing. By that logic, however, wouldn’t that make any CIA operative working in a foreign country, supporting anti-government factions a terrorist?
