I love the law of unintended consequences, and how it usually seems to work in my favor.
Today it’s pointing out that over the last 40 years while the sharing of power has indeed become more equal (more equal, not equal) between men and women, men have become more happy and women have become less happy.
Why? Read this NY Times article, it doesn’t quite say that women are unhappy because their house is dusty, but I think that’s the real reason.
So now “Ooops didn’t think that would happen” is some kind of immutable law? Now even uncertainty is being subject to rational demands for certainty. Bah!
Dusty houses? Maybe, but there was also something in there about double workloads and the masculine refusal to take responsibility for anything domestic (except the BBQ I guess).

Indeed. ‘Laws’ are always a great way to turn an opinion into a fact. As far as I’m concerned the only real laws are found in physics, and even those can be bent.
I liked the part about how everyone is working less, but men are enjoying it more.
